The Casaubon Bookstore is a digital store passionate about antique and modern books and contemporary graphic design. Europe, Asia, America... we patiently select books from all over the world, without any temporal or cultural boundaries.
Casaubon is inspired by Casaubon, a 20th-century Italian academic, a character in Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum.
A detective of knowledge, Casaubon knew where to find and how to interpret the most obscure cultural references. He took his name from Isaac Casaubon, one of the greatest scholars of the 16th century, and symbolically subscribed to this timeless quest for knowledge and meaning.
Casaubon pecked at and assembled information; he reconstructed stories. With his companions, he advocated a work that imposed a completely personal reading grid. Indeed, Casaubon creates History with History; in his work, everything is true but everything is false; he enlightens us on the notions of interpretation and truth.
Research, references, interpretation, truth... these notions inspire the Casaubon bookstore every day and help it progress in its analyses, its quest for information and knowledge.
