One of the most impressive and beautiful symbolist books.
This tale in four parts written by Edmond Haraucourt has a high-flying artistic direction.

5 renowned artists with very different styles, several engraving and coloring techniques, a specially designed paper. This book is apart in the history of bibliophily, so much effort and artistic diversity to illustrate a single story, certainly segmented into four parts, this is almost unheard of.

From the pastel poetry of Alexandre Lunois' lithographs, we move on to the very contemporary style of Eugène Courboin, almost similar to a comic strip of today and which perfectly supports the malaise of the Antichrist. Then comes Carloz Schwabe who plunges us into the antechamber of death with almost morbid symbolist atmospheres, all ending with the very personal drawings of Alexandre Séon, whose style, after 130 years, remains as modern as ever.
